And The Definition Of Oppression Is...

...Banning foreign words and replacing them with ridiculous variants from your own language.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ordered government and cultural bodies to use modified Persian words to replace foreign words that have crept into the language, such as "pizzas" which will now be known as "elastic loaves," state media reported Saturday.

Sacre bleu!!  Those bloody foreign words and sayings are sabotaging the very foundations of society!  It's madness!  If someone doesn't stop it, citizens may realize there are *whispers* other cultures out there...

hmm...how much to you want to bet that Iran bans the term "nuclear weapons" next?  They'll be re-labeled as something innocuous, like "glass makers", "paint removers", "map makers", or "presents for the Great Satan".

Because then obviously we'd never suspect they were up to no good...
